• Daniel Gallagher

    Master of Counselling Psychology Candidate

Hi – I’m Daniel, but everyone calls me Danny.

Sometimes the exact thing we need in order to heal is the hardest thing to talk about.

If you’re coming to therapy, you might be carrying something that feels raw, complicated, or unresolved. Maybe you’ve tried to move on from it. Maybe you’ve told yourself you should be “over it.” Or maybe you’ve never had a space where you felt safe enough to actually speak about it.

I believe therapy should hold a careful balance: being curious enough to help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface, while also respecting your readiness to share. We’ll go at a pace that feels manageable — but we won’t avoid what matters.

Many people I work with are living with the effects of trauma and PTSD symptoms, including anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, shame, or feeling disconnected from themselves or others. Sometimes that pain shows up through substance use. Sometimes it shows up in relationships or in sex and intimacy. Whatever form it takes, you deserve support that is grounded in empathy, not judgment.

My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and understood, and where real change feels possible. Together, we can make sense of what you’ve been carrying and work toward a life that feels steadier, more connected, and more yours.

It’s a beautiful world, and you deserve to enjoy it.

Danny sees clients virtually and in-person at our downtown office space.

    Professional Background

Over the last several years, I have worked closely with a variety of vulnerable populations, including neurodivergent children in Australia, the unhoused community in Vancouver, and most recently supporting individuals in distress through my work at the suicide prevention centre in Toronto.

These experiences shaped how I understand pain and crisis. I’ve learned that suffering isn’t experienced through a universal lens — every person’s circumstances are unique. The source of your pain might look different from someone else’s, but what you feel deserves empathy and care.

I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches, with a strong focus on evidence-based therapies — because I believe in using methods that research shows are effective. Some parts of therapy may involve processing past experiences and understanding how they’ve shaped you, while other parts focus on practical strategies to help you create meaningful change.

I am currently completing my final placement as part of a Master of Counselling Psychology degree at City University of Seattle, and I work under the clinical supervision of Emilia Pacholec, Registered Psychotherapist, and offers a limited number of reduced-rate spots through New Moon Psychotherapy’s Affordable Therapy Program.

    Survival got you here.

    Healing will take you further.
