    Our Mission

Nearly two-thirds of Canadians will experience a traumatic event at some point in their lives (Statistics Canada, 2021). These traumatic events will impact their emotional, physical, and social health as well as the well-being of future generations.

Our mission is to transform lives through trauma recovery.

While trauma is powerful, resiliency  is insurmountable.

We believe that through effective therapy, compassion, and collaboration, survivors can tap into their resiliency and overcome the impact of trauma.

We are guided by evolving research and committed to providing evidence-based psychotherapy. These are well researched treatments, proven to help survivors heal, not manage, the symptoms of trauma.

We are not trauma informed, we specialize in trauma.

Trauma informed simply means that you understand the impact that past experiences can have on mental health. This is often why trauma survivors find they continue to struggle after therapy – they were not receiving therapy intended to heal trauma. They were simply working with someone who understands the impact.

At New Moon Psychotherapy we specialize in trauma. We don’t just understand how trauma effects survivors, we know how to treat it.

We respect diversity and differences in opinions, values and attitudes. This is reflected through individualized treatment plans which consider each individuals lived and generational experiences.  We strive to provide culturally-sensitive, non-discriminatory, and affirming care to culturally diverse populations and BIPOC, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and polyamorous communities.
