• Afreen Dhamani, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

    Hi – I’m Afreen and I use She/Her pronouns.

Navigating the many challenges and struggles life throws our way can leave us feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. It is not uncommon to feel alone or unsure about seeking support.

I aim to create a safe and empathetic environment where you will be heard, validated, and respected in your authentic life experiences. By recognizing and honoring each individual’s unique cultural background and life journey, I create a a supportive and inclusive space while empowering you to explore your emotions and difficult experiences.

My goal is to guide you towards healing and growth. As we journey together, you may develop a deeper understanding of yourself, build resilience, and find greater fulfillment in your life.

By fostering a collaborative and supportive relationship, I help clients access their inner strengths and navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.

I offer psychotherapy in English, Hindi, and Urdu both virtually and in person at 130 Spadina Avenue in Toronto.

    Professional Experiences

I earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree from York University, a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and a Graduate Certificate in Autism and Behavioral Science from St. Lawrence College.

For over seven years, I supported neurodiverse children and youth through behaviour therapy to regulate their emotions, cope through transitions, strengthen executive functioning, and navigate relationships. I also coached parents and caregivers to develop the tools to effectively care for their own, and their child’s, mental and emotional wellness.

Recognizing the intersection between early neurodevelopmental factors and traumatic experiences, and witnessing the challenges neurodivergent individuals face in navigating these experiences, I’ve dedicated my practice as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) to providing specialized support rooted in empathy and understanding. My aim is to help each of my clients regain their sense of agency on their journey towards healing and resilience.

Every part of you is valuable and deserving of compassion

    – Afreen Dhamani
