Jamieson Eakin

Hello, I’m Jamieson and my pronouns are he/his!
Life can be overwhelming at times and it can be challenging to navigate the world in the face of oppression, disability, stigma, and other barriers to success. Having the right therapist to talk to and collaborate with on your goals, challenges, and emotional hardships can really help create a plan for success.
I came into the counselling field through community arts projects and using creativity to access and process emotional turmoil, find connections, build a support network, and build a life with meaning and purpose.
My therapy draws on inner strengths and creative expression to manage complex thoughts and emotions, and increase feelings of empowerment. My experience as part of the LGBTQ2S+ community and background in creative arts offers a unique approach to healing that can be particularly helpful for young adults, culturally diverse groups, individuals who experience neurodivergence or have experienced trauma, or those who face challenges navigating personal relationships.
Sessions will often involve mindfulness and somatic work like breathwork or grounding exercises. You may also be encouraged to be reflective or creative using a variety of mediums that fit with your interests and goals, as well as implement new skills, resources, and supports.
My approach to therapy focuses on the power of thought and intention, psychoeducation, metaphor, and ritual to build healthy habits and a balanced life. I like to emphasize meaning-making, the importance of self-efficacy, and control of experiences in the healing process from cognitive, somatic, and social-constructivist perspectives.
